Cellist, educator and scholarship recipient, Mr Brandon Voo holds the distinction of being the first native born Singaporean cello performance graduate from the prestigious Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore-Peabody Institute John Hopkins University. He studied with Nella Hunkins, a graduate from the class of world renowned cellist Janos Starker at Indiana University and currently Principal Cellist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
Brandon's immense performing experience included stints with the Singapore Festival Orchestra, Singapore Lyric Opera and The Philharmonic Orchestra. In his younger days, he was Principal Cellist of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company. He was most recently selected to take part in the summer chamber music camp at the Tibor Varga Music Academy in Sion, Switzerland.
A dedicated and experienced teacher, Brandon has taught the cello section of many award winning school orchestras for the biennial Singapore Youth Festival Competition. He currently teaches at the Curtis Music School in Singapore.
